Lotus Sales Hit New Record As Elise, Exige And Evora Cease Production

Lotus announced that it had its best annual global retail sales performance in a decade in 2021. Global retailers sold 1,710 new cars in 2021, a year when the iconic Elise, Exige and Evora were discontinued. That compares to 1,378 sales in 2020, an increase of 24%. The Elise is the best-selling car in the world as fans look to secure a piece of automotive history with the Sport 240 Final Edition and Cup 250 Final Edition models. APAC records were broken in Asia Pacific, with Japan the best since 2015, Australia the best since 2018 and Hong Kong the best since 2014. Qatar has been selling Lotus since 2016, its best year ever. Further evidence of the ongoing transformation of the business in Bahrain, Thailand and New Zealand, where Lotus sold its first new car in at least seven years. North American retailers covering the U.S. and Canada also grew 111% year over year, their best performance in 10 years.
