A Brief History Of Honda's Style

From Haoying to Style, we must give Guangqi Honda a compliment-adding strong local language features and historical imprints to the car name will indeed make consumers more curious and a sense of identity. Although we all know that this "hard sweet potato" is not the other "hard sweet potato", the yellow car body that is contagious enough and the manufacturer's promise of "with manual transmission", I believe it will give the pretty boys the illusion and confidence-a style one Look faster than Civic.

The earliest Integra had only two wheels?

From its birth in the 1980s to the end of the early 21st century, the orthodox Integra has experienced four generations of models. It exists under the label of "Pioneer King", but in fact, it was not a steel gun that Honda first used the name of Integra. But two motorcycles. In 1982, Honda CBX series 400 and 550F models used the Integra suffix.

The earliest four-wheeled Integra was not an independent model, but a suffix. In February 1985, Honda launched Quint Integra in the Japanese market. It seems that the previous generation Quint was not very successful. Since then, Honda has begun to promote and amplify the presence of Integra. At this time we are still too early to talk about VTEC, but at this time Integra has its own label-in the North American market, it is sold under the name of Acura, so the performance and positioning are more luxurious than the Civic, and it provides three doors. Various body styles such as hatchback, five-door hatchback and four-door sedan. The 1.6-liter DOHC engine equipped with the original Integra was popular with its 7,000-rpm red line. This generation of Integra is considered a success in North America, with a record of sales of 50,000 units in the new year.

Get ready to explode VTEC!

The second-generation model is a turning point in Integra's positioning and destiny-VTEC is here! But the positioning of the ordinary Integra is still not extreme. This generation of models only offers three-door hatchback and four-door models, and because the four-door model is too close to the Civic, the three-door hatchback has become the main sales force of Integra.

In terms of high-performance models, Integra is equipped with Honda's first VTEC engine B16A, which can output 160 horsepower. The VTEC meshing speed of the B16A engine is 5500 rpm. The legend of explosive TEC was born. This generation of RSi and XSi models equipped with DOHC VTEC only takes 7.2 seconds to accelerate to 100 kilometers. Among them, RSi is a more lightweight version, and XSi is a more electronic and luxurious version.

In the North American market, the highlight of this generation of Integra is the GS-R model, a five-speed manual gearbox, a 1.7-liter B17A1 VTEC engine, which is also 160 horsepower, equipped with a rear wing, and full of sporty style. However, because it was only launched in 1992, and the Integra was replaced in 1993, the production of this generation of North American version of GS-R was not much, with a total of less than 5,000 units.

Sit firmly! DC2 is coming

The third-generation Integra was unveiled in 1993. The biggest change came from the design of the car lights. The four small circular lights were dubbed "Spider Eyes" by car fans, and this design did not have a high degree of acceptance in Japan. Therefore, the long-striped headlights of the local models were restored when the model was changed. The local version of the third-generation Integra is called Si, and the American version is still GS-R. Of course, you know this is not the point...

In 1995, Honda brought the Integra Type R to the domestic market. This car was equipped with a B18C engine, strengthened the frame, and added LSD. The 1.8 displacement reached 200 horsepower that year. Honda Dafa is indeed shocking. On Type-R, Honda finally showed its ultimate concept, stealing thin windshields, lighter wheels, removing sound insulation materials, sunroofs, air conditioners, and rear wipers. Although Type R adds additional welding points and body reinforcement components compared to GS-R, it still achieves a lighter weight. DC2 is even hailed as the best sports car in the golden age of Japanese performance cars in the 1990s, and it is also recognized as the best front-wheel drive performance car. Of course, DC2 has already become a financial product now, and the price of changing hands in the used car market or auction houses is easy. Matsubi has overturned several times when it was new.

Another cold knowledge is that although Integra has always been linked to "the best front-wheel drive in the world", this generation of models actually provides a four-wheel drive version, and it is based on sedan models-in addition to the extreme performance of the red standard Honda, in fact this generation Integta also has a four-door sedan version that looks like a luxury route with thick eyebrows and big eyes.

From glory to temporary end

In the North American market, Integra stopped at the third generation, and the fourth-generation model launched after the millennium was sold in North America under the name of RSX, in order to be more in line with Acura. The Type S sold between 2002 and 2004 achieved the same 200 horsepower as the previous generation Type R. The market where Integra was buried in the first place is going to be a place where Integra will be reborn again with China. I don't know if it is reincarnation or irony.

The Type-R of the DC5 generation has become a model exclusively for the Japanese market, that is, a true and narrow JDM model. This generation of Type-R is equipped with a K20A 2.0 L DOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder engine with a maximum output of 220 horsepower. i represents that VTEC has become more intelligent after more than ten years of development. Recaro seats, four-piston Brembo front brakes, a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission, LSD and a more sporty suspension make the DC5 still maintain the style of the DC2.

But in 2006, Honda announced that due to the shrinking coupe market, Integra will be discontinued in June, and all of its last 300 cars have been sold. However, consumers and fans reacted fiercely to the Integra, and the mood fluctuated. Honda took advantage of the trend and made a few extra money to produce 150 Integra. Regarding the first story of Integra, the full stop is here.
