Tank trademark was invalidated or renamed

Recently, a batch of trademarks related to tank cars applied by Great Wall Motors is in an invalid state, which has aroused widespread concern from the outside world. The trademarks of Tank WEY, Tank 400, Tank 500 and Tank 600 applied by Great Wall Motor are all in a trademark invalid state, while the current trademark status of Tank 300 is under review for refusal.

On October 21, an insider of Tank Motors revealed: "The tank series trademarks applied by Great Wall Motors are currently being applied, and related work is proceeding in an orderly manner." However, they did not respond to why Great Wall Motors did not apply for the "Tank TANK" trademark.

Based on the principle of trademark registration, the reason for the rejection of the tank series trademark is most likely due to the lack of distinctive features of the trademark. At present, Great Wall Motors has successfully registered trademarks such as "Tan Krypton", "Tank Wolf", "Tank Cross-country Great Wall", and "Tank Traveler". In the future, Great Wall Motor’s “tank” series models may not rule out choosing to change their names to seek trademark protection rights.
