[Korean Trends 613] German media commented that Hyundai ioniq5 is better than Mercedes-Benz EQB!

Recently, the IONIQ 5 surpassed the Mercedes EQB in a comparative evaluation of electric vehicles conducted by the German car magazine AutoBild. The comparative evaluation of the two models includes 53 detailed items in 7 categories, including body, comfort, powertrain, driving dynamics, connectivity, environment, and cost. As a result of the sum, the IONIQ 5 scored 582 out of 800. EQB score of 562 points.

To be able to achieve such a result, it can be said that Hyundai Motor is quite unexpected, after all, Germany is the hometown of Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes-Benz is also one of the favorite brands of German users. The reason for this achievement is that the Hyundai ioniq 5 is a product of Hyundai's pure electric platform and adopts rear-wheel drive. The EQB is built on the Mercedes-Benz A-Class platform and is still the front-wheel drive.

The Ioniq 5 is considered better than the Mercedes-Benz EQB in terms of pure performance and technical evaluation. It also leads the way in the powertrain segment. In addition, it also received good reviews in terms of space utilization and cost. The Ioniq 5 previously took first place in Autobilt's "Best Imported Car" electric vehicle category.

Last month, the ioniq 5 was selected as the most competitive car in a comparative evaluation of five electric SUVs by AUTO ZEITUNG, one of Germany's three major automotive magazines. The comparative evaluation conducted by Auto Zeitung is for five models: Ioniq 5, EV6, Polestar 2, Tesla Model Y and Mercedes-Benz EQB. There are five evaluation items: Body, Driving Comfort, Powertrain, Driving Dynamics, and Environmental/Economic Efficiency.

The Ioniq 5 ranks first in the driving comfort category across five evaluation categories. In addition, in the driving dynamics and eco/economy categories, it scored well in most areas, coming in second. It surpassed the Polestar 2 (3164) and Tesla Model Y (3157) with a total score of 3222.

Not only was the IONIQ 5 highly rated by German car magazines, the Ioniq 5 was also selected in the "German Car of the Year 2022" held last November. A total of 45 new cars were shortlisted in Germany, and the IONIQ 5 was selected as one of the models of the year. Other models that won Car of the Year were the Peugeot 308 in the sub-€25,000 category and the Kia EV6 in the sub-€50,000 category. Audi E-TRON GT in over 50,000 euro category, Porsche 911GT3 in high performance category.

Ioniq 5 will launch a version with increased battery capacity this year, which is expected to solve the problem of short cruising range. It will also feature a new battery thermal management system to optimize battery temperature.
